Jameson High School was named after Sir Leander Starr Jameson, also called ‘Doctor Jim’, a doctor and an administrator of the former Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe. Jameson is an co-ed, interracial school which offers sports such as rugby, cricket, basketball, swimming, field hockey, netball and volleyball.

There are four hostels, Warne House (boys – the Bulldogs), Starr House, (boys – the Mighty Men), Leander Hostel (girls – the Birds) and Hoult House (girls – the Bunnies). Around 700 students enroll at the school yearly and 200 live in boarding. The school moto is ‘Sine Metu’ (Latin for ‘without fear’) and the school mascot is a panda bear.

    This year (2012) it expects to dominate in the upcoming cottco rugby schools festivals.the players who had raised the sine metu flag high,also have played for several years are:Godfrey sipanera,joseph ‘rambo’ njowa,Douglas ‘choi’ murwendo,tamuka ‘roady’mutsau,Charles ‘stanky’ muzorori.

    the schools basketball team has been the major achiever compared to other sports. they came 3rd in sprite the top schools competition in 2003. the 1st five were captain aurthur ‘MBAJ” mbasera, simbarashe nigel ‘STITCH’ kandengwa, ‘NYIMBZ’ manyimbiri, brave moyo and ‘CHIGGY’. COACHED BY mr sango. they won all thier provincial matches that year. 2 of the players then went professional.
